A Canadian boy with a penchant for pasta has put his discerning taste for Kraft Dinner to the test, by selecting a new shape for the company's noodles.
Everett Botwright, whose highly particular desire to eat "Star Wars"-branded KD captured social media attention last February, appears to have moved on to a new franchise in selecting the Minions as the next limited-edition Kraft Dinner shape.
Everett made his selection in a video recorded by his father, Reed Botwright, which was posted on the Kraft Foods Facebook page on Wednesday.
Everett helped Kraft choose Minions as the winner from five different options, which also included Spongebob Squarepants, Cars, Trolls and Dory from "Finding Dory."
"We think his choice of MINIONS is pretty awesome," Kraft wrote in its video post. "Thanks for helping us out, Everett. We loved working with you!"
The seven-year-old from Nanaimo, B.C., is perhaps Kraft's most dedicated customer and toughest critic. Everett, who has autism, decided earlier this year that he would only eat Star Wars-branded Kraft Dinner. But his appetite soon put his father Reed in a bind, as it became impossible to find the right kind of KD at local stores in Nanaimo.
Botwright put out a call for help on social media and his message soon went viral, with "Star Trek" actor William Shatner among his most vocal supporters. Good Samaritans from Canada and the U.S. offered to send Star Wars KD to keep Everett stocked. Botwright had to ask people to stop with their offers after just a few days, because the response was far greater than he could have imagined.
Everett's love for KD naturally made him a perfect judge for selecting the next themed noodle shape.
"Thanks for letting us be a part of this, Kraft Foods!" Everett's dad wrote on Facebook Wednesday.
The Minions-themed Kraft Dinner will be out later this year, Kraft says.
