Hundreds of Canadians made their way to Parliament Hill as the lawn re-opened to the public Saturday for the first full day since shots rang out in the Parliament Buildings and at the National War Memorial.
The grounds officially re-opened Friday night, but many Ottawa residents braved the rain Saturday to show they are not afraid.
After Cpl. Nathan Cirillo was shot at the National War Memorial on Wednesday morning, a gunman was seen running through the Centre Block of Parliament before the gunman was shot and killed by Sergeant-at-Arms Kevin Vickers.
Speaker Andrew Scheer said House of Commons visitors and employees can expect to see a heightened police presence, but tours are expected to resume Monday.
