U.S.-based luxury retailer Nordstrom is indeed coming to Canada, and will make a formal announcement later this week.
Nordstrom Inc. president Blake Nordstrom is set to announce 鈥渟tore plans for Canada,鈥 according to a news release, at a press conference scheduled for Thursday morning at Toronto鈥檚 Ritz Carlton Hotel.
In July, reports surfaced that the company was looking at locations in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa.
Nordstrom is only the latest U.S. retailer to move north of the border. Budget retailer Target is set to open 125 locations in Canada next spring, while J. Crew recently opened its first Canadian store at Toronto鈥檚 Yorkdale Shopping Centre.
Department store Bloomingdale鈥檚 is also reportedly in talks with Hudson鈥檚 Bay Co. to expand into Canada.
