For the second straight day, remains have been found in the ravine near a home linked to alleged serial killer Bruce McArthur.

Det. Sgt. Hank Idsinga with the Toronto Police Service said investigators found the remains on Thursday in 鈥渆ssentially the same area鈥 as the remains that were found one day prior.

鈥淲e continue digging in the same general area, but we鈥檝e got a long ways to go yet,鈥 he told reporters on Friday.

Idsinga said the crew will take the weekend off and resume combing the area on Tuesday. He added that a post-mortem on the remains will be conducted on Monday.

Idsinga said police will try to identify the bodies using fingerprints 鈥渋f the decomposition isn鈥檛 too bad,鈥 dental records 鈥渋f we recover skulls and teeth,鈥 and, 鈥渇ailing that, DNA.鈥

Officers recently resumed their search at a midtown Toronto home linked to McArthur鈥檚 landscaping business, the same spot where investigators found the remains of seven bodies in planters.

After K9 units found several areas of interest in the ravine next to the home, officers began excavating the area on Wednesday and within hours found some remains in a small compost area.

鈥(Investigators will) keep digging until those dogs aren鈥檛 reacting anymore,鈥 Idsinga said on Friday.

Idsinga said they do not know yet if the remains found on Wednesday or Thursday belong to a new victim or if they are additional remains of bodies that have been previously recovered.

鈥淏est case scenario is those remains that we recovered are matched up to remains that we鈥檝e already recovered and if there鈥檚 any new remains, that they鈥檙e identified rather quickly,鈥 he said.

McArthur, 66, is facing eight counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of men with ties to Toronto鈥檚 gay village.

Among McArthur鈥檚 alleged victims are Selim Esen, Skandaraj Navaratnam, Andrew Kinsman, Majeed Kayhan, Dean Lisowick, Soroush Mahmudi, Abdulbasir Faizi and Kirushna Kanagaratnam.

McArthur鈥檚 next court date is scheduled for July 23.
