Canadian Forces carried out another airstrike in Iraq Tuesday night, dropping bombs on an Islamic State fighting area in northern Iraq, Defence Minister Rob Nicholson has confirmed.
Speaking during Wednesday鈥檚 question period, Nicholson said two CF-18 Hornets dropped four 2,000-pound bombs on an Islamic State fighting position in a desert area near Kirkuk, Iraq, about 265 kilometres north of Baghdad.
The airstrike denied 鈥渢he enemy use of this position鈥 and extended a buffer between the terrorist organization and security forces, Nicholson said.
The airstrike marks the second strike in as many days by Canadian Forces, after an operation Monday targeted an Islamic State warehouse.
