Oops, she did it again. Britney Spears is once again in the media spotlight, this time for sporting a brand new bald hairdo.
The flaky pop princess entered Esther's Haircutting Studio in the Tarzana district of Los Angeles on Friday and demanded a buzz cut, salon owner, Esther Tognozzi told Us Weekly.
"She just walked in and said she wanted to shave her head," she said.
Tognozzi refused the request, but that did not stop the mother of two.
"Britney was set on having her head shaved so she started doing it herself," she told Us.
After Spears chopped of the longer locks with scissors and then buzzed off the rest with electric shears, Tognozzi eventually helped even out the cut.
After she sheared herself, Spears began to show regret.
"She just looked in the mirror and said with tears in her eyes, 'Oh, my God, I shaved it all off. My mom is going to be so upset with me.'"
Prior to shaving, Britney reportedly complained that her extensions were "very tight and uncomfortable," Tognozzi said.
Access Hollywood reported Saturday that the salon is planning to auction off Spears' locks on eBay.
According to an unnamed source at the salon, they will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the auctioned locks to the Britney Spears Foundation.
Hours after the shearing incident, the paparazzi descended on a San Fernando Valley tattoo parlour where the newly buzzed Spears was spotted.
Video on KACC-TV showed the mother of two being inked with two new tattoos at the Body & Soul Tattoo in Sherman Oaks.
According to shop employee Emily Wynne-Hughes, Britney arrived at the parlor agitated.
When asked why she shaved her head, Spears replied, "I don't want anyone touching me. I'm tired of everybody touching me," Hughes told Us.
"She wasn't making sense at all and you could tell she's not in a good place at all, and that she is totally freaking out," Hughes added.
The shop employee also complained of Spears' behaviour during the inking.
"She was a nightmare to deal with," says Hughes. "She was screaming and flipping out from the pain and wiggling her body all around."
Spears reportedly got a black-white-and-pink cross tattooed on her lower hip and red-and-pink lips on her wrist.
Derrik Snell, who also works at the tattoo parlor, said Spears showed up without notice and stayed for about 90 minutes.
During her time at the curbside tattoo parlour, about 60 fans, photographers and gawkers gathered outside.
Eventually, police arrived to control the crowd. They helped Spears' bodyguards take her into a waiting SUV with her head covered by a large hooded sweatshirt.
The odd behaviour came on the same day as conflicting TV and Internet reports claimed that Spears had a brief 24-hour stint in rehab.
On Friday, People magazine's website cited "a source" saying that Spears had gone in and out of rehab, and identified the facility as Eric Clapton's Crossroads center in Antigua, in the Caribbean.
On Saturday, a rep for Spears at Jive Records confirmed to AccessHollywood.com that the pop princess did visit a rehab facility but did not stay.
The Jive publicist also told Access Hollywood that Spears left Antigua with her manager Larry Rudolph.
They flew by private plane to Miami and took a commercial flight to Los Angeles.
Larry Rudolph, Spears' manager, couldn't be reached for comment.
