KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - A Vancouver TV writer is hoping to launch a new series that will focus on the trials and tribulations of the war in Afghanistan.
"Combat Hospital," the show's working title, plans to focus its attention on the Role 3 Multinational Hospital at Kandahar Airfield.
The series is the brainchild of Jinder Oujla-Chalmers, who has spent the last couple of weeks job shadowing and interviewing medical personnel at the facility.
The hospital employs doctors and nurses from several nations and provides advanced medical care to coalition troops, Afghan civilians and children.
The concept has the support of the woman running the hospital, but Lt.-Col. Danielle Savard only hopes that "it doesn't go too Hollywood."
There are a number of potential shooting locations that could double for Afghanistan, including Jordan, Mexico and even Ashcroft, B.C., which has been used before as a stand-in for the Middle East.
