Call it radical anti-comedy, call it mind-bogglingly self-unawareness, or call it a bit of fun, but a couple from Kelowna, B.C. have became Internet sensations after putting a home "movie" on YouTube.
A few month ago, Fred and Sharon Spencer started a small video production company and their "plea" for business became an web classic.
"Who needs a movie?" already has more than 800,000 hits on the popular YouTube website.
Think of every bad late night infomercial you've ever seen, with animation from the dark ages, and you only have the half of it.
Since that response they have continued to post their videos, each with an additional level of awkwardness.
As Fred Spencer says, "I'd be the first to admit these movies are sometimes not perfect."
And considering some of the nasty emails they got, some critics had to to agree.
But still, it didn't take long for Hollywood to notice.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! has apparently offered them $1,000 a day to make their videos.
And a TV pilot? Oh, sure. That's on the horizon, too.
That's well beyond the normal 15 minutes of fame the web has provided for most viral video stars.
"Maybe 30," Fred Spencer says with a laugh.
