MUNICH, Germany - Canadian pop stars Avril Lavigne and Nelly Furtado have snagged some of the biggest honours at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Lavigne walked away with two trophies Thursday in Munich, Germany, taking the title of "most addictive track'' for her single "Girlfriend.''
She was also named "solo artist of 2007,'' after beating out superstars Rihanna, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera.
Furtado won album of the year for her blockbuster release, "Loose.''
The annual awards show featured performances by Foo Fighters, Mika, Lavigne and the scandal-plagued soul singer Amy Winehouse.
Winehouse sang "Back To Black,'' and won the artists' choice award, determined by a survey of more than 80 fellow performers.
Other winners included 30 Seconds to Mars, Linkin Park, Justice, and Muse.
