MONTREAL - Astronaut Dave Williams has a dream: a Canadian on the moon in 12 years.
Just back from a visit to the International Space where he set a Canadian record of three space walks, Williams now has his eye on the moon. In an interview from Houston, Texas, the 53 year-old astronaut said today he would like to see a human setting foot back on the Moon by 2019.
That would be the 50th anniversary of the first lunar landing in July 1969 by Apollo 11.
American astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first person to set foot on the lunar surface.
Williams also says he would like the next lunar mission to be an international collaborative adventure, which would include a next-generation Canadian astronaut walking on the moon.
