CALGARY - Alberta's health-care board is facing a $1.1-billion budget shortfall this year.
The president of the Alberta Health Services Board, Dr. Stephen Duckett, says the province is spending $30 million a day on medical care.
The $10.8-billion budget passed in Calgary includes a 13 per cent increase over last year.
The superboard, which replaced 12 regional health authorities, says it will look at cost-cutting measures.
Board chairman Ken Hughes says borrowing money to make up the shortfall is one option.
