
Ty Merrick has been educating the diverse international student population at Âé¶¹Ó°ÊÓ Oregon since 2012. After finishing a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics at the University of Oregon, she taught English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in Seoul, South Korea. She enjoyed that experience immensely. After returning to the U.S., she earned a Masters of Education in English as a Second Language (ESL). Ty has studied many languages, including German, Spanish, French, Japanese, and Korean, and she enjoys helping students identify and overcome challenges associated with their native language and learning English. Currently, she serves as the President of the Board for Oregon Teachers of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ORTESOL), an affiliate of TESOL. In that role, she focuses on supporting new ESL teachers in both K-12 and post-secondary instructional settings.
