Practice/Research Interests
Practice: Dr. Merlo maintains a practice site at Mountain View Medical Center, a local family medicine clinic. There she primarily manages patients with diabetes and provides clinical consults for providers with complex patient cases. Other commonly managed chronic diseases include COPD, asthma, depression, anxiety, insomnia, tobacco use disorder, chronic kidney disease, obesity, and pain management.
Research: Dr. Merlo’s scholarly interests include holistic admission processes and effects, methods of increasing equity in the learning environment, and effects of pharmacist-led educational efforts on appropriate prescribing practices. She is dedicated to creating learning experiences to meet the diverse learning needs of the modern student body.
Outside the Classroom
Dr. Merlo was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. She moved out to Oregon for residency and fell in love with the nature, people, food, and summer weather. She enjoys spending time with her family at local sporting events, farmer’s markets, hikes, restaurants, the zoo, OMSI, and any indoor playground.
